"Vindicator" with Lapis Lazuli Gemstone handle |
The original "Bulldog" tactical combat knife designed for an infantryman in the 101st Airborne for his use in combat in Iraq. This man happens to be my son, who served two combat tours of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and of who I'm very proud. The blade is bead blasted D2 extremely high carbon die steel, for the ultimate in wear resistance, hollow ground and double edged with half length top edge. The spine is thick and substantial the bolsters are zero care 304 austenitic stainless steel for the greatest longevity and toughness with the highest corrosion resistance. The bolsters are dovetailed and bed a pair of linen reinforced Micarta phenolic handle scales, secured with 304 stainless steel pins. The finger ring is contoured and well shaped, the handle locks positively in the reverse grip position. The sheath is gray double thickness kydex over a 5052H32 corrosion resistant, high strength aluminum welt frame, with nickel plated steel Chicago screws for strength and corrosion resistance. This is one tough, strong, and durable tactical combat knife.
Thanks, J. F.!
The knife is deployed in reverse grip style, with the ring and a portion of the handle extending from the sheath, and the main cutting edge facing forward. The forefinger easily glides into the 1" diameter, contoured and radiused ring, and the rest of the hand follows, engaging in a very secure tactical grip. It is the quickest, most secure way to hold a knife in a reverse grip. This grip orientation allows a much stronger locking of the wrist, the knife point and blade work with the forearm to guard the vital torso, and the position of the point protects against any enemy at the side or behind.
