New Knives in Production!

Pre-order Knives in the Works Here!

Works in progress. Jay Fisher's knives in various states of construction

If you are here, you're probably looking for new and upcoming knives that I'm currently working on. Maybe you would like to get the jump on new knives, or customize one that is coming up. You're in the right place. You probably won't believe how many knives I've got in the works.

Here's my take on this: I love to make knives; I've done this for over 40 years, and it's my profession and passion. So I'm compelled to make a lot of knives. People are shocked at how many knives I have in production at any one time, and if they visit the studio, they're surprised to see that over 100 knives are in the studio in various stages of completion, especially since I do all the work myself and farm absolutely nothing out!

Jay Fisher knives. Works in progress, all handmade

Some people ask, "Why are you doing this, working on so many knives? Wouldn't it be easier to just work on one or six or a dozen or so and then just finish those and move on to the next batch?"

Actually, no. For example, at the time I'm writing this, I just completed two weeks of heat treating and nearly 30 blades of different kinds and types, of three different high alloy stainless steels. Because those have to be processed in batches, I might have only two or three in a batch of 8 that I have to run through the deep cryogenic process that are solid custom orders from clients.

The others are there because they are knives I'm compelled to make, not only to fill out the batches for economical processing, but because they are new designs, new applications, and new knives destined for new handle materials and accessories that I have planned for. Also, if I jump around and make only small groups, I've got lots more tool changes. This all takes time, and I work as efficiently as I can. I may have a knife blade that has been sitting and waiting for a long time for completion, while I move orders forward. Now, it's moving forward a step or two, towards completion. I may have several with bolsters mounted, waiting for handles. I may have finished knives waiting for sheaths, stands, or cases.

These are all knives I'm very excited to complete and offer to the public.

Making creative works (knives that are not specifically completely custom-ordered or bespoke) is the way that I bring new designs, models, materials, and configurations to my present and future clients. These are all of the knives you see on my current Knives for Sale page, Tactical Knives for Sale and the Chef's Knives for Sale pages. By the way, these are most of the knives I've made, most of the knives you see on the 700 pages of this website.

Wouldn't it be cool if you could see what is upcoming on those pages?

Wouldn't it be great if you could order something I've already got in the works?

Wouldn't it be grand if you could pick a handle, stand, or sheath for a knife that is nearly completed, creating your own custom knife or knives?

This is the idea of this page. I started doing this on my "Where's my Knife, Jay?" page on the website, but I realized that there isn't enough room on the page and a lot of people missed this huge list of new and upcoming knives completely. Sure, there were those that ordered (or perhaps you could say "pre-ordered") the knives, but I realized it might be better for these new and exciting models to have their own page. That way, my clients can search and get details about each knife, finding what interests them.

Notes about using the big chart (BELOW):

  • The knives are not listed in alphabetic order or chronological order. If there is a photo available in the knife's current state, it's linked at the "P" by the name.
  • If I have a pattern photo on my patterns page, that is linked so you can see the pattern.
  • If you see an EL (Extra Length Blade) or ST (short), or "Magnum" in the name, the size is adjusted and non-standard. "LT" means a lightweight or narrow blade. Sometimes, blade lengths are included. Email me for more details.
  • If it is a new design, there is no pattern link. It will be forthcoming.
  • If a column is blank (like "Handle Material"), it doesn't have that yet.
  • Check the current step (completed) to see where the knife is in production. Pay attention here. For instance, step 12 means the knife blade is done and ready for bolsters. Step 15 means that the knife is ready for the handle and the handle hasn't been chosen yet. If it's at step 19, it's complete except for a sheath, stand, prise, or case.
  • A knife may be several types, depending on materials, finish, embellishment, and accessories, since it is unfinished. This is where a knife can be made your own, custom to your choosing!

If you see a knife on this list that you're interested in pre-ordering, drop me an email and let me know.
