Chef's Set

This is an older/early work of four of my long standing chef's knives in a custom block. The knives are made of hand-engraved 440C high chromium stainless steel, hollow ground and mirror finished. A simple and early engraved design shows how far I've come and that engraving is a continually evolving process and skill. The knife patterns in this set are my French Chef's (Sabatier style) knife, my slender Boning knife, the still-popular La Cocina (The Kitchen) and my small Paring knife patterns. All four knives are bolstered in zero care hand-engraved 304 high nickel, high chromium austenitic stainless steel and the bolsters are dovetailed and bed pairs of Scapolite in Sodalite gemstone handle scales. The Scapolite is a florescent mineral, and under a high UV or black light, the Scapolite glows a bright yellow color in the field of blue Sodalite and white Calcite. The knives are blocked with just the edges resting on a milled and heavy layered block of hard Rock Maple and African Paduk hardwoods. The block is inlaid with four cabochons of Scapolite/Sodalite gemstone, bringing it all together.

A nice older set that I'm still fond of.

Thanks J.W.!
