  • Blade: 440C High Chromium Martensitic Stainless Tool Steel, Hardened and Tempered to Rockwell C59, Mirror Polished
  • Bolsters, Fittings: Hand-engraved 304 Austenitic Stainless Steel
  • Handle: Plasma Agate Gemstone
  • Sheath: Hand-carved, hand-dyed leather shoulder, nylon stitching
  • Knife: The Macha Navigator is a popular design evolved from my Macha Principle Security Detail and combat knives. "Macha," pronounced mak-kha, is the name for the Celtic goddess of war. This particular Macha Navigator has a more gentle and comfortable thumb rise than the original design, and a hefty EL (extra length) blade. The knife is a striking piece of work, and has nearly nine inches of deeply and accurately hollow ground high chromium, high alloy 440C martensitic tool steel, cleanly and brightly mirror polished, honed to a razor's edge. The beautiful blade is very tough and wear resistant, and this is why 440C is used for stainless steel ball bearings and high pressure, corrosion resistant valve seats and shear blades. The blade has a devastating tactical point, and a half-length top swage supported by more than 1/4" thick steel at the spine. The blade has 3 inches of my super-aggressive Vampire rip teeth, cleanly sharpened for superior and hostile action. The blade has spine filework, from the swage to the handle butt, reminiscent of a hound's tooth pattern while the inside of the handle tang is clear and smooth for comfort. The knife is bolstered with zero-care 304 high nickel, high chromium austenitic stainless steel, the same steel used to make the toughest and most corrosion resistant nuts, bolts, and fasteners. I took considerable time and effort to cut a striking and bold deep relief pattern into the bolsters by hand-engraving, matching the same nested teardrop pattern that is carved into the sheath. The multi-pinned bolsters are mirror polished, radiused, contoured, and smoothly rounded for a very comfortable grip, and are dovetailed to bed the handle scales. The rear bolster has chamfered lanyard hole for extra security if needed. The handle scales are striking and beautiful Plasma Agate gemstone, with bright green translucent agate and bits of golden threads running through. On close inspection, there are ruby-red dots and clear agate clouds with a few traces of metallic hematite. This is a very tough, hard, and durable gemstone unique in character and beauty. It's smoothly and evenly polished and glassy and solid in the hand. The knife balances at the choil, and feels magnificent and extremely powerful in the hand.
  • Sheath: I wanted a very special sheath for this knife, one that would compliment the knife in obvious harmony. I hand-carved the 9-10 oz. leather shoulder, vegetable tanned, with the same nested teardrop (or paisley) pattern on the bolsters, and hand-tooled the pattern to stand bold from the background. The background is a dark green-black and I hand-dyed the raised patterns in a graduated green color with a hint of yellow-gold, to bring out a bit of the character of the Plasma Agate handle. The sheath is deep and large, well-protecting the knife and owner, and is hand-stitched with black nylon, in double row at the belt loop top for strength. Even the back and belt loop of the sheath is carved, tooled, and hand-dyed for continuity, and the knife and sheath blend seamlessly. The sheath is completely sealed with a high gloss finish, hand-buffed.
  • The Macha Navigator EL is a superior, striking, massive, and handsome knife, expertly ground and finished, with bold and refined character, one I'm very proud of.

Thanks, N. D.!

The knife looks AWESOME! I love it.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
